Behavioral consultation & parent training
We offer in-home behavioral consultation and ongoing support to help address challenges and provide parents with the tools to implement strategies at home.
Discover effective ways to manage difficult behaviors
Parenting is not easy, and we all need help sometimes. When confronted with challenging behaviors, even the most confident and experienced parent can feel ill-prepared. Although certain behaviors like noncompliance, tantrums, outbursts, or impulsivity can be expected within developmental milestones, sometimes when coupled with a neurodiverse condition (e.g., autism, ADHD), these disruptive behaviors can persist, or even escalate, making life at home or in the community stressful for everyone.
Apart from disruptive behaviors, other challenges at home may impact your child’s ability to successfully organize themselves and accomplish certain aspects of daily life. For example, some children may take longer to master skills related to daily living routines, self-care, or to manage transitions throughout the day. The good news is that these are skills that can be practiced and learned.
We offer behavioral consultation, helping parents discover effective ways to manage difficult behaviors and maximize their parenting skills. By providing parents with the necessary information to help them understand the root cause of the disruption and equipping them with the tools to take effective action, parents can feel more confident in their efforts to bring about behavioral change. This approach is centered on evidence-based principles of progressive applied behavior analysis (ABA). Read more about how this differs from more traditional ABA.
This is not about changing our kids. This is about empowering them with the skills and confidence to effectively express their needs, self-advocate, self-regulate, and build independence, on their terms. This starts with providing parents with the tools to best support their kids. Every child is different, so our approaches are tailored and individualized for each unique family.
A behavioral consultation includes a 1–2-hour observation in your home, the development of a detailed and concrete plan, and a follow-up meeting to discuss the plan together. We continue to meet with you for follow-up sessions as needed, to problem solve, practice, and implement strategies.
