Social skills groups

We are proud to launch our GirlPower Connect groups for tween and teen girls! Please join us for a supportive, neurodiversity-affirming program infused with hands-on activities, to help girls navigate their emotions, build confidence, and practice social skills.

GirlPower Connect!

Who: Middle school and high school girls
When: Enrollment is ongoing.
Where: Our Newport Beach location (1451 Quail Street)
Why: To empower neurodivergent girls through connection, confidence, and skill building

GirlPower Connect has been designed by our team to empower young preteen and teen girls to feel confident when speaking with their peers, challenge and manage any negative feelings that come up with socializing, and improve self-care and self-compassion in these areas. More than a social skills group, this group also incorporates evidence-based strategies to manage emotions, build self-esteem, and navigate other barriers that are unique to girls and can sometimes get in the way of authentic social connection.

Sessions will be run by a licensed clinical psychologist. Topics will include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating new and empowering self-narratives
  • Improving mood and well-being
  • Managing emotional overwhelm
  • Taking charge over perfectionism
  • Challenging negative beliefs and automatic thoughts
  • Increasing confidence, positive self-concept, and sense of competency
  • Implementing successful coping and self-care strategies
  • Handling sensory overload
  • Connecting to others and deepening friendships
  • Navigating social challenges and bullying
  • Refining conflict-resolution and advocacy skills

Enrollment is ongoing. Please contact our front desk coordinator at frontdesk@sterlingautism.com to learn more and add your child to the waitlist!
